конспирологияthe more I'm thinking about it, the more it just... doesn't add up. it's almost funny how anyone couldn't even imagine this scenario two weeks ago and in a few days people already found it perfectly understandable. well, I guess, this is how human brain usually works: if something happens it HAS to have some reasons and an explanation. it happened and thus there is nothing unusual about it. but this transfer is anything but usual. I get it: family, trophies, yadda yadda yadda, but on the over hand:
1. he always was very outspoken about his aversion to Bayern. he felt mistreated, no doubt (ffs, they even fired his father very much because he won the BL with Dortmund), but he also was against them ideologically. he confronted KHR and Hoeneß. he basically said fuck u when they wanted him back in 2012. he was always the one making a point of this rivalry. and now he apparently contacted them himself to be taken back. on his own will. idk, but he always seemed like a proud man to me, to the point of being arrogant. I can imagine him accepting the offer, if it were they who decided to approach him, but not like this, not even for his family. and if it's true: to allow them to discredit yourself so massively... to give them all the cards so they can use them against you – and act like nothing happen afterwards, I can hardly believe that he is capable of that. too much arrogance in him to do that.
2. because he is also very conscious about his public-image. to a ridiculous extent. it hurts him when journos write about him in a 'wrong' way. he made much ado about press misinterpreting him and not for once. he talks a lot, but his words are always calculated: he says what he wants others to hear from him if it makes sense. so it matters for him big time how he is being seen by other people. and man, doing what he has done — it's almost suicidal from that point of view. he basically fucked up all his media strategy he had been working on for years. should it be any other person than Mats, I'd say that it's a weak argument, but these things ARE important to him. he wants to be a good guy in his own eyes, but also in the eyes of the public. being as insecure as he is it's awfully hard to disregard these things.
3. and finally, the whole concatenation of events was just weird. I mean, transfer request? with the exact destination?! come on, the whole concept of "transfer request" was made up by English press. it NEVER happens irl. player just says that he doesn't want to extend his contract and club then waits for offers to come. that's it. same about swap-deals: it's not a fucking football manager, it doesn't work like that. moreover, everyone was ridiculously calm about what happened. Watzke and Tuchel looked almost smug on Sky and in PK respectively. correct me if I'm wrong, but usually there is nothing to be smug about in such a situation. and his father? I remember him answering a bayern-transfer question in some talk-show back in Jan, when all of their CBs were injured, and he talked about it like a wtf-joke, which it was back then.
it all looks very strange at least. and from my perspective it looks like a pure absurd. it would be hilarious if I wasn't heartbroken, really.I don't want to jump to any conclusions, I'm just confused.
